HMRC Employer Bulletin: October 2026 — practical payroll checks
For UK employers, including hospitality and travel businesses:
Check overdue items: 2025/26 PSA electronic payments were due on 22 October 2026; use the separate PSA reference. Check outstanding P11D/P11D(b) obligations and Class 1A payments where applicable.
November PAYE: allow funds to clear by 20 November 2026 unless your Faster Payment will arrive by the 22 November deadline.
Christmas payroll: if paying early, report the normal contractual payday on the FPS.
Prepare for 6 April 2027: mandatory payrolling starts with company cars, vans, their fuel and employer-provided medical benefits. Review payroll readiness and any eligible globally mobile employee exceptions.
These checks depend on your circumstances. The bulletin also covers employment-law changes; employers should review the relevant HR guidance.
